Re: The Coming Ashes
"Right." He makes his way down a street and asks a few people where the nearest hotel was. The responses he got was the Ritter Hotel which was just around the corner. Kedik was tired from walking all day, it felt good entering an air-conditioned place. He went up to the counter and the clerk welcomed him. Kedik was about to register his name when he saw a sign behind the clerk on the back wall. It had a picture of him and Muro, and it said wanted. Kedik began to stutter and finally blurted out. "John Frank, r-room for two, please."
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Muro walked into the small, dark pawn shop and rang the bell at the counter. S pudgey blad man with a mustache answered the call and came out of a back room and asked his needs. "I need ammunition for this, if you will, sir." Muro unholsters Memory and lays it on the glass counter. "I'd like explosive ammunition if you have any as well, and a few flash bangs and two smoke bombs." The owner looked him over suspiciosuly and came back with a box of black bullets and what looked like 6 small sticks of dynamite and two long pipes with fuses in them. Muro paid with his left over money, the free night card from the brothel, and a broken golden pocket watch. Surprisingly he made it out with all the items in a large paper bag and began making his way to the light-up hotel.

Re: The Coming Ashes
The clerk rings him in and hands Kedik a key. "Room 202." Kedik thanks the man and goes to the elevator, heading up to the second floor. He walks to his room and unlocks it. Opening the door, he notes all the windows just in case they need to make a quick exit. After surveying the place he puts his stuff down on his bed and goes to take a shower.

Re: The Coming Ashes
As he limps along the platform, vaguely wondering what all the commotion is about, Hayate's mildly surprised to hear his name being shouted at him. Mainly because he's been using an alias all the while he's been in the city. He spins around trying to find the source, finally spotting someone very familiar running towards him
...Riki? |
Re: The Coming Ashes
Riki runs towards Hayate, a grin splayed across her face. "Hayate!" Catching up to him, she embraces him tightly with one arm, ignoring the surprised expression on his face.
((*wipes eyes* Love reunited. So touching. :P)) |
Re: The Coming Ashes
Meanwhile, a certain man is questioning people of Midd* on two certain bounty-heads. His last big lead was from a nearby Brothel, but he was having little luck otherwise. They were still here, Dustin knew it. He'd wait patiently, and whne they slipped up, he move in for the kill.
((*I was told to call it that)) |
Re: The Coming Ashes
Sander wanders into town after walking for a while. His belt is currently broken from his fall. I need to get a new belt buckle, theres gotta be a pawn shop in town somewhere. They always sell junk like that there...Sander wanders into the local pawn shop and picks up a belt buckle. He takes it up to the counter.[I] Hey man, I'm gonna buy this, and have you seen any odd looking characters around town lately? The shopkeeper tells Sander that he saw an odd looking man walk outta the shop just a few moments ago but he doesn't know where he went. Sander walks outta the shop after fixing his belt and walks around town cautiously looking for the two men.[I]

Re: The Coming Ashes
((For anyone who was in Far off Dawn or Stellar Soldiers, I've got the first chapter of a story set in the Confederacy universe up down in My Stuff [/blatant advertising]))
Not being one for large displays of any feeling other than angst, Hayate is indeed rather surprised by Riki's hug, as well as the state she's in. 'Course, he's not much better off. 'S been a while. If I'd have known you were coming, I'd have tidied myself up a little. He smiles to himself and ruffles Riki's hair to annoy her. (In the good way :P ) |
Re: The Coming Ashes
Riki grins and good-naturedly punches Hayate's arm. "Actually, I wasn't coming here at all. Train had a, uh, sudden stop and I decided to go on foot the rest of the way. I was looking for you, though. I have your sword...and something to tell you, but this really isn't the time to do it. If you're waiting for a train, don't count on it coming anytime within the next year or so. We're stuck, basically. And you're hurt! What happened?"
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Kedik finishes up taking his shower. He steps out and puts a towel on. After messing with his hair he dresses. He sits on the bed pondering the days events. It started with them being accused in Pasadga, and now ending up here in the town of Midd. They met a guy named Loki... Wasn't that an old god? What kind of name was that? Kedik takes his cellphone and dials the number of his partner. "Come on, pick up Muro.."
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Hayate looks somewhat bewildered by the flood of information, but recovers gracefully.
It's nothing major, trust me. I got into a debate with a vampire, that's all. She had some good points, but I made enough profound arguments to convince her to leave. Looks like you're not exactly in the best of shapes either. How about I find us a hotel or something? |
Re: The Coming Ashes
Muro picks up the phone while in a bakery, trying to get something to eat. "Pizza Hut, how may we help you?"
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Kedik doesn't laugh. "No time to mess around, Muro. The longer you stay out there, the better chance you'll have of being seen. Get to the Ritter Hotel. I'm signed in as John Frank, on the second floor. We don't know how many of them made it from the train wreck to this town. Hurry."
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Muro hangs up the phone and steals a dougnut from the bakery, quickly walking out and down the sidewalk. As he ate, he kept his hand loose on his bag of equipment in case he may need to draw his pistol. "Ritter Hotel... There it is." Muro spots the Hotel a few small ways off and makes his way there.
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
"That'd be great. We have a lot to talk over." She seems purely delighted to be with him again. "Hey, what town are we in? I uh, wasn't exactly planning to come here." Truth was, she was planning to go as far as her money could take her. (if she had bothered to count it, she would have ended up one station short of here.)
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
((D1L said I could spot one of ya two so.....I am))
Sander walks down the road towards the hotel cause he wants to find a place to stay for the night. He is walking down the path and is looking at the ground. Just as he turns into the doorway of the hotel he bumps directly into someone. He looks up and see's that its muro. Dude, I was hopin to catch some sleep before going after you two again!. Sander swings a punch to muro's face. |
Re: The Coming Ashes
Murois hit square in the face and back up, dropping his things and taking out his revolver, aiming it at Sander's nose. "Likewise, hunter. Let's compromise. I'll give you whats left of my doughnut there on the ground and you can walk away alive and we can finish this tommorow."
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Sander Ponders
Food....money....food....money....food....money. This is like debating between beer and women! ITS SO HARD! Oh well, I'll take the dougnuts. Sander bends over to pick up the doughnuts at muros feet, but he quicky punches muro quite below the belt ((you know what i mean)). I will gladly have both my good man! Sander puts Muro in a choke hold. |
Re: The Coming Ashes
Muro gags in the choke hold and was already weak from the cowardy and mean move he was hit with. He quickly shoved his hand into the paper bag next to him and grabbed out one of his explosive bullets shoved it into Sander's ear. "Ack... I'm sure you know... what that is, hunter."
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
I think I saw a place that I can afford...
He smiles a little knowing smiles and leads Riki down from the station and down a few side streets. Eventually, they come across a fairly nondescript hotel, probably closer to a hostel than a proper hotel. As they go in, Hayate heads over to the clerk. Evidently, he's been practicing his people skills on his travels. We'd like anything you've got on the top floor, preferably with all mod cons. It seems we've got one free at the very top, but it'll be rather expensive, Mr...? Crowley. Anthony Crowley. And that will be just fine It could just be Riki's imagination, but Hayate's voice, usually fairly close to being an English accent had subtly changed into a very good impersonation of an actual English accent while he was talking. He digs a wallet out of a pocket of his coat and pays, by the look on the cashier's face, a little more than the price of the room If you've got any extra's hidden away, now would be the time to see to them. ...Y-yes sir... I think that should cover us for a night or so, Riki. Shall we go? ((And if you don't know why Hayate's pseudonym is so appropriate, shame on you)) |
Re: The Coming Ashes
Riki raises an eyebrow and nods. "Yep, should do it. Uhm, I guess we should head upstairs. We've a lot to talk, and we both need some bandages."
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
((Shame on me Janus...))
Sander is slightly stunned by the pressure of a gun to his ear. But he doesn't freak out. He remembers that he has doughnuts in his free hand so he drops them and pulls the gun out of his ear. Ah my dear boy you do indeed forget that I am not new to this business. I have indeed seen my fair share of holdups and counter-holdups. ((Sanders speech pattern and attitude change based on my own personality of the day.)) |
Re: The Coming Ashes
The bullets rolls and makes an explosion the size of a firecracker. Muro seems rather annoyed and elbows Sander in the gut, diving to his gun and rolling into the empty street, staring up at Sander. He shoots him in the ankle.
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
The bullet lands in the muscle of sanders leg. You son of a *****! Sander takes his duel revolvers and being used to aiming after being shot, unloads on muro with both revolvers. For goodness sake! I have medical bills to pay, AND YOUR PAYING THEM!
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Muro rolls out from the line of fire and ducks into and alley way, grabbing his bag as he runs, hiding behind a dumpster and yelling. "Everyone go inside, none of you will get hurt!" He pulls out a flash bang and looks out at Sander, firing a few well unaimed shots around him to scare him before tossing the blinding grenade at his feet.

Re: The Coming Ashes
By this time Dustin had made his way into the Ritter Hotel and was on the elevator heading to the second floor. It had took some investigation, but he had tracked one of his targets to a Room 202 under the alias of 'John Frank'. What a obviously false name. It wasn't hard to get information out of the inattentive clerk. In fact, nothing for Dustin had been really difficult so far. How disappointing. The Bounty Hunter rather hoped that Kedik would prove to be a worthy opponent. Still, it didn't matter to his employer if the two were alive, so it would just be that much easier to kill them and get it over with. Faster he takes these two clowns out, the faster he gets a juicy new paycheck.
After walking down a hallway, he reached 202. Dustin then considered his options. Taking off his pack, he rummages through the contents. Eventually he finda a hand-grenade and a small bomb that would easilly blow the door open. The bounty-head would be killed before he knew what hit him. Dustin places the explosive near the door hinges, setting the timer for 10 seconds as he readies his grenade. With a push of a button, the timer counts down and Dustin backs off a few feet. "End of the line, Mr. Kedik." |
Re: The Coming Ashes
The flash bang goes off at Sander's feet and he falls back a few feet and stumbles to the ground. My goodness that is one bright little ******. Oh well, might as well do what I always do when this happens. Sander lies still on the ground with his eyes closed after rolling sideways on the ground till he hit a wall he hoped would provide cover or hide him somehow.
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Muro runs from behind the dumpster with all of his belongings and sprints down to the hotel as fast as possible. Once there, he goes upstairs to the room Kedik mentioned and encountered Dustin. "...****." Muro unholsters his weapon once again and discharges at Dustin at point blank. Clearly the life of his innocnet friend was more important than the hunter. Or was it? For now, it was.
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Kedik was actually taking a small nap. He didn't hear the talking outside his door, but he certainly heard the explosion that blew the door away. He jumped out of his bed, pulling out his gun which he had under the pillow for just this occasion. He waits until the dust settles and slowly creeps out into view of the hallway, seeing Dustin but not Muro. However he heard the gun go off and Muro's voice seconds before. He knew he was covered.
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
After recovering from the flashbang Sander gets up and runs to the hotel. That guy needs to ****in die. My vision sucks as it is and he goes and makes it worse!
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Dustin makes no sound and the bullets throw him back, landing directly in his chest. He crawls behind a nearby corner and readies a grenade "Must be my lucky day.."
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Muro runs into the blasted in room and shoots out a window, taking advantage of Dustin's preoccupation with cover. "Lets get out of here before anyone here gets hurt. We don't need a kill record."
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
He nods to Muro. "Good idea, let's get out of here. Do you know who that is though? Someone we ran into before? Bah, it doesn't matter. Let's go." He steps back, with his gun still aimed towards the charred hallway leading to the exit. He backs up towards the window that Muro shot out. "Ladies first."
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Muro takes a step out and jumps onto a dumpster, making a loud crash as his fall is broken by trash. "Pussies last, asshole" He begins climbing out of the garbage.
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
Sander runs up to the front of the building and see's nothing. He then runs to the dumpster area and sees the two a couple yards away. He pulls out his two revolves and just starts unloading in their direction in anger, not really specificlly aiming like he should.
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
In a blur, Dustin rolls past the doorway to Room 202 and a frag grendade is thrown in, landing only feet away from Kedik.
((Boom, bitch. =P) |
Re: The Coming Ashes
Kedik's eyes widen as he hears the grenade rolling his way. He only got a second to see the guy roll past his door, getting a look at his face. Now he was trying to think fast, he stepped back towards the window and without thinking he jumped out backwards. As soon as he's out in the air, the grenade goes off. The entire room explodes, sending debris and glass in Kedik's direction. But he's more worried about landing, he looks down and sees the dumpster; ducking his head he crashes down on several garbage bags and already hears gunshots from someone else.
|
Re: The Coming Ashes
A soft crunch is heard as Dustin enters the remains of the hotel room, his boot crushing glass and debris. He surveys the ruins, and doesn't find any signs of blood, let alone a corpse. With a frown, Dustin heads out the doorway and to the main lobby.
